Michael Bay’s Finest Hour

The good folks over at The A.V. Club have a great inventory up today, featuring 9 music videos directed by famous film directors.

Most of us probably know that Brian De Palma directed Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” video, but how about Sam Peckinpah directing Julian Lennon’s “Too Late for Goodbyes”? It’s definitely Julian Lennon’s peak — not so sure the same can be said for Peckinpah.

But the most appropriate matching of director to video is Michael Bay helming the Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself.”

If I could describe Bay’s film oeuvre in one word, it would be “masturbatory.” And now we can see where he honed his craft.
