Worst Trip Ever

A week ago, I watched a UFC fight for the first time. I had semi-high hopes… I used to love boxing, and thought UFC might present similar drama. Plus, I’d probably get to see the guy who stole Mr. T’s role in the A-Team movie get punched in the face.

What I learned… fighting with “no rules” means guys can back each other into the corners and spend several minutes trying to give a charley horse with their knees. Maybe some of the fights are exciting… Jackson vs. Evans wasn’t.

However, that doesn’t mean that the world of MMA was devoid of drama this week.

Word broke of one of the most cinematic murders in recent memory. On March 21st, MMA fighter Jarrod Wyatt and his sparring partner Taylor Powell decided to drink some mushroom tea.

Well, apparently Wyatt wasn’t in the right frame of mind to trip. He started to believe that the world was ending and that his buddy was the devil. According to the Eureka Times-Standard, when another friend showed up to the scene:

Davis arrived to find Wyatt standing in the living room naked and covered with blood, according to the statement. Wyatt told Davis, according to the statement, that he was going to cut out Powell’s heart. Davis went to a nearby pay phone to call law enforcement.

A deputy arrived at the residence and reportedly saw Wyatt on the couch with Powell’s body, which was covered in blood and had most of its face removed. A large incision in the chest could be seen, and other unspecified body parts had been removed. An eyeball was resting in the middle of the room, according to the statement.

Wyatt allegedly told the deputy that he’d cut Powell’s heart out and thrown it into the fire.

Powell’s death certificate reads that he died from having his heart removed while he was still alive, causing him to bleed to death.

Remember kids… always know your dealer and never take more than you can handle.
